TRADITION WITH MEANING

Peace & Apostolic Blessings from the Manse and Chapel of St Mary Magdalene on the Hill in Exeter, Missouri, staffed by the Rexist Brothers & Sisters of the Order of Christ Our Most Holy Redeemer and Heavenly King.  The Historic and First Religious Entity in the Universal Church to use the post nominals OCR after the names of her Members.  The Order was Organized in Leeds, England in 1900 A.D. on the Feast of Christ the King.  We are Orthodox in Belief – Catholic in Communion – Anglican-Old Style English in Liturgy and Book of Acts in Mission.

A full schedule of Traditional Worship is observed. The Manse and Chapel preserves the Orthodox Christian Catholic Faith through fidelity to the principles of Holy Mother Church from time immemorial.  A Lighthouse in Today’s Turbulent and Tentative Waters we Find About us in our Daily Living.  If it is not broke, Why attempt to Fix It?

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, The Divine Liturgy which also is appropriately called (as stated above) the Divine Service, the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Communion Service are all correct designations of our Glorious Patrimony.  These are expressions of the same Central Act of Christian Worship employed by the Faithful at different times and in various locales of our 2000 year History.  All Eucharistic Rites, Prayer Services and Sacraments are celebrated weekly or daily and depending on the feast or day of the week in the Chapel adjacent to the Manse or in the Oratory within it.

The New Church Sign

The Manse and Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene on the Hill is easily identified by the custom designed Church Sign prominently displayed and visible near the edge of the property.  The Chapel is furnished with a large Antique Brass and Milk Glass Lighted Cross (circa 1930’s) that was salvaged from a closed Protestant Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  It was employed formerly as an Altar Cross.  When lighted after dark the Chapel can be seen from quite the distance.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Chapel is appointed with  Liturgical items from many Chapels, Churches and Oratories and used in Service by those Saintly men and women who were the fore-bearers of our glorious Tradition. It is hallmarked with a framed Icon of St. Joseph of Arimathea encased with a cutting of the Glastonbury Thorn, a unique framed image of St. Mary Magdalene that captivates all who gaze upon it, a Statue of St. Augustine of Hippo in full Pontificals from the historic Cathedral of St. Augustine whose resident Pastor was North American Old Roman Catholic Archbishop Emile Rodriguez y Fairfield located on Brooklyn Avenue in East Los Angeles, California.  The Statue dates back to the early 1900’s and has been professionally Restored to its former Glory.

A Tabernacle once owned and in Use by Archbishop Joseph Rene Vilatte the Historic Western Rite Orthodox Missionary Bishop who labored in Wisconsin beginning in the 1890’s.  The  Handcrafted Set of Stations of the Cross on Wood were fashioned and personally bestowed to us by Springfield, Missouri  artist Jack Bresee.  Mr. Bresee originally donated the beautiful Set of Stations to an Episcopal Church in Springfield.  The Rector accepted them on the condition they be hung in the Church and put into Service.  Months passed and it was determined the promise of use made by the Rector would not be kept.  They were ultimately returned to Mr. Bresee and he forthwith joined our Parish and donated them to us.  The Service of Blessing and Dedication of the Stations was well attended and covered by local news media.   Jack was called to his Eternal Reward in March 2021.

St.  Procula Pleads the Case of Christ to Husband Pontius PilatePilates wife

On October 27th 2021 being the Feast of St. Procula Witness to the Crucifixion & Martyr, we were Blessed to put into Liturgical Service a framed Image of St. Procula.  She pleads with husband (Pontius Pilate) not to condemn and sentence our Lord Jesus Christ to Death.  Her Witness to the Truth of the Gospel and Conversion have become for us an uplifting example of Courage and Strength.  Her Feast Day is one of special Devotion and Celebration at the Manse and Chapel.
