THE DECLARATION OF OLD SHERBORNE SARUM AND UPPSALA

We submit the
Declaration of Union
in response to the
Archpriestly Prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ
in the
Seventeenth Chapter of the
Gospel of St. John

With One Voice in Answer to the Call of the Holy Spirit;
In Humility and Gratitude to Those Churchmen of Olde who
Sought Blessing, Peace and Concord among the Churches;
We Honor, Revere, Emulate and Unite With Them,
Embracing Their Profound Theological Works to Guide us
in Our Journey Together Unified in Christ;
THE THIRTEEN ARTICLES ON THE APOSTLES CREED OF 1538
 Archbishop Thomas Cranmer
 Archbishop of Canterbury of the Church of England
THE SWEDISH CHURCH ORDINANCE OF 1571
 Archbishop Laurentius Petri
Archbishop of Uppsala of the Church of Sweden;
 In Agreement with the Intent and Tenor of these
Venerable Works of Theological Excellence;
We affirm as a United Witness for Christ our desire
to heal the divisions caused by the sin of schism,
That has divided the Body of Christ and
given rise to Strife, Wars and Spiritual Calamity among
Historic Churches who espouse the Primitive Christian Faith.
Our Union Members Profess and Agree;
That the Blood of Christ is
Thicker than the Water of Denominationalism;
That the Sacred Scriptures; the Creeds; the Church Fathers and
the Ecumenical Councils in concert form the
basis for the complete Organic Union among our Members;
That the Historic Episcopate and
Mutual recognition of the Sacraments
 binds us as a United Witness for Christ;
That Liturgical Rites and Customs differed greatly
in the Universal Church throughout the Centuries;
That such diversity is not a hindrance for
Christians to come together in Unity;
That in the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church,
since the Book of Acts Church Community and onward;
There existed Organic Union among the Churches;
throughout the Universal Christian Church,
without the Docility of Uniformity in non-essentials;
That all Bishops of the Historic Episcopate are
Pares inter Pares ~ Equals Among Equals;
That all Union Members Maintain their Autonomy and
Divine Right of Self Governance;
Laying aside all else for the Expressed Will of Christ;
We have formed the
UNION OF OLD SHERBORNE SARUM AND UPPSALA
to allow the Holy Spirit to be the Guide that
Unites all of our Members to Walk as One,
as we continue our Journey under the Protecion
and Splendor of His Almighty Wings.

THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF BISHOPS
Bishops of our Member Churches, Dioceses and Religious Orders
are Welcome as Members of the
Supreme Council of Bishops.
Religious Orders governed by Priests (Presbyters)
having Episcopal like authority will be
counted as Members of the Council.

PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Savior,
Prince of Peace and King of Kings;
Give us Grace seriously to lay to heart the Great dangers we are
in by our unhappy divisions;
take away from us all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever
might hinder us from godly Union and Concord;
that there is one but on Body, and one Spirit and
one Hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism,
one God and Father of us all,
 so we may henceforth be all of one heart and of one soul,
United in one Holy Bond of Truth and Peace, of Faith and
Charity, and may with one mind and one mouth Glorify Thee;
Through Jesus our Lord.  Amen.
